Your foundation sets the tone of your face. It helps even out the colour of you skin and can disguise a number of problems. Used incorrectly though, and it can be worse then having no make-up on at all.

Before thinking about using a foundation the first thing you should consider doing is getting rid of your beard - either through laser hair removal or electrolisys. If you don't and you have severe beard shadow or significant daily hair growth even the best foundation in the world is not going to be able to hide it.

The most important step is selecting the correct shade for you skin colour. Too dark and it can look false, too light and it can make you look pale and sickly. If you're up to it we recommend going to a professional and getting useful information on what shade and type of foundation is best for you and how to apply it. Many of the more expensive make-up counters will give you a "Free" make-up consontation and make-over. It's not entirly free as they will charge you about €40 to €50. However, the idea is that money is discounted off any products you may purchase after the make-over is completed. If there is one in your area Mac-Commetic's are highly recommended for their professional, curteous and understanding manner. Plus their cosmentics, while expensive, are very good.

It's probably best if you purchase one of the cheaper store brands and practice with them.
