The Garda Siochana has a number of liaison officers for dealing with issues that members of the Gay, Lesbian and GID community may have. If you have been a victim of a crime, hate crime, harassment, or prejudice due to your status (L/G/B/GID) you should report it immediately. While you may be reluctant to report incidents the Garda due to the perception that your status will become the issue rather then the incident itself, we would strongly encourage you to contact them.
It is essential that you are honest and accurate when reporting an incident. Any information you give to the Garda will be treated confidentially and should not be disclosed to a third party without your permission.There are number of Garda liaison officers that you can contact when reporting any incident. These officers have been trained in dealing with the types of crime that can occur within the Gay, Lesbian and GID communities.

In addition the Garda Siochana have implemented a Garda Advice Service based in the Outhouse on Capel Street in Dublin. The advice service is open once a fortnight and has specially trained Garda Liaison Officers in attendance between 8pm and 10pm.
