Fáilte and welcome.
Hello and welcome to the homepage of Gender Identity Disorder Ireland (GIDI).
GIDI is a registered charity and is the national support organisation for people with Gender Identity Disorder, those experiencing difficulties with their gender identity. As a registered charity we are all inclusive and provide support to all those experiencing difficulties with gender identity, including Male to Female and Female to Male. Our organisation also provides information and support for families, relatives, friends, employers, service providers etc.
The purpose of this website it to provide as much information as possible in one place in order to enable those living with Gender Identity Disorder to better understand themselves, the nature of their condition, and the options available to them in terms of diagnosis and treatment and the process they will have to go through if they wish to complete a successful and happy transition.
We also endeavour to provide family and friends with valuable information to help them understand what someone with GID is going through, what may happen and what their options are.
Contained within these pages you will find detailed information with regards to Gender Identity Disorder, the transition process, helpful information on where to go for a diagnosis and what you should do in order to complete a successful transition. The 'Family' section of this website contains a host of information for family and friends, answers to questions they may have as well as links to additional information as well as support groups.
